Management and Operations
Strong club governance and fiscal strength are the foundation of our success and are the catalyst for
many peer clubs looking to CCV for guidance and best practices. Effective governance allows the
CCV Board to remain focused on important issues while the staff operate the Club.
Board of Directors
CCV’s Board of Directors is made-up of 15 members. The Club’s Constitution and Bylaws provide the Board with the power to make all decisions, eliminating the need for member votes for capital projects and other strategic issues. The Board is elected through a contested election by the members holding stock.

The Board focuses on long-term strategies and relies on our committee structure to study issues and recommend action.

A full-day orientation is provided to newly elected Board members annually.

A commitment to strategic planning sets a road map for current and future Boards.

committee structure
CCV is supported by Board Committees and Advisory Committees. Board committees are populated by current Board members, and focus is centered on strategy and setting policy for the Club. Members-at-large, who are users of particular activity areas, comprise advisory committees that are more tactical in nature and are asked to provide suggestion and feedback to staff.
Financial strength
The financial strength of CCV is unmatched in the industry. Our Board and staff make decisions with a long-term view, especially in times of uncertainty. A steady flow of new member matriculation, regular dues increases, and active use by members contribute to our strong fiscal position.

New capital projects are funded through cash flow from initiation fees while depreciation funded through our operating budget are used for annual capital replacements. The Club has never assessed its members in its 117-year history.
Executive Management Team
In addition to General Manager Phil Kiester, CCV is led by an Executive Management Team, each proven leaders in his or her field: Assistant General Manager Anne Stryhn, Chief Financial Officer Angie Stewart, Director of Athletics Todd Goodale, Director of Golf Warren West, Director of Golf Maintenance Christian Sain, and Human Resources Director Molly Boese.

Announcing CCV’s Next General Manager
The Country Club of Virginia is pleased to announce the selection of its next General Manager/Chief Operating Officer (COO) following a nationwide search.

Congratulations to Anne Stryhn, CCM, who will assume the role in November, following the retirement of current General Manager, Phil Kiester, after 13 years of leadership.

Anne’s selection follows a nationwide search led by a committee of current and former Board members in partnership with search consultants. The process evaluated a broad pool of candidates from leading clubs across the country. After months of thorough review, both the Committee and the Board unanimously agreed that Anne is the right leader to guide CCV into its next chapter.

A member of CCV’s leadership team for 17 years, Anne has served as Assistant General Manager since 2016. Her career also includes roles at several top-ranked, platinum clubs, including Baltimore Country Club, the Chevy Chase Club, and Cherokee Town & Country Club. At CCV, she has played a central role in major initiatives such as the development of the $19.6M Fitness and Racquet Sports Complex and the Dominion Energy Charity Classic, as well as long-range strategic and facilities planning.

With a deep commitment to CCV’s mission, member experience, and service-first culture, Anne is well positioned to build on the Club’s strong foundation and lead its continued evolution of excellence.
